Instantaneous water heaters which heat water directly as it flows through the heater make up the largest part of the product range. Unlike conventional boilers, compact instantaneous water heaters do not store hot water and therefore do not incur any expensive loss of heat. However, their use always requires an adequate dimensioned power supply, the rating of which determines the hot water output of the appliance. The temperature of the hot water delivered by instantaneous water heaters always depends on the following factors:

1. Capacity of the appliance (depends on power supply available)
2. Feed temperature of the cold water
3. Water flow rate (depends on mains pressure available)

In summary: The lower the water flow rate, the higher the temperature can reach. Only electronically controlled appliances guarantee constant temperatures even under varying flow rates, since power is always exactly regulated.

A flow pressure of 2-3 bar (= 28-42 lbs/in²) is always required in the appliance in order to ensure that it functions satisfactorily at all times.

The Integrated Electrical Security system is an innovative heating system incorporated into numerous instantaneous water heaters from CLAGE which heat the water particularly quickly and efficiently. However the system's bare elements require a certain conductance in the water (equal or greater than 1100 ohm-cm) so that they can be used.

Such components as differential pressure switches, thermal safety cutouts and electronic safety devices ensure that these appliances always reflect the latest state of the art.
